Satellite Towns around Vizag

Greater Visakhapatnam:
Nineteen new satellite towns will be built in the next five years around the city, which had now been made ''Greater Visakhapatnam city'' following a state government order merging 32 villages and suburban Gajuwaka town.
Under greater Vizag the city’s area would grow five fold to 550 square km from the present 111 sq km and the population would go up from the pesent 9.6 lakh to nearly 18 lakhs.
The advantage of a greater Vizag is, it will have better access to National Urban Renewal projects and other central funds.
Six months had been earmarked as transition period under which there wont be any hike in property taxes.
