In the last one year, Real Estate market prices in Vizag area had more than doubled with the prospects of Separate state for Telangana, Formation of special economic zone (SEZ), Beach road expansion, Apparel park, Pharma city, Gangavaram port, Allotment of lands to a few IT firms like Satyam Computers, TCS and Wipro and construction of mega housing projects in collaboration with foreign companies by Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority (VUDA) and Tourism projects,

One and a half years back there was plenty of land available at Rs 4,000-5,000 per sq yard in the city. The prices rose to about Rs 10,000 per sq yard.

Between Madhurawada-Anandapuram, the national highway-facing land and Bhimili beach prices increased to Rs 80 lakh - Rs 1 crore per acre from Rs 15-20 lakh two years back.

In the Aganampudi, Parawada and Achuthapuram areas, the land prices galloped over the last two years in anticipation of increased industrial activity. Projects proposed in this area include an SEZ, Pharma city, Gangavaram port and Textile city.The recent developments like uncertainty in Volkswagen's proposed manufacturing unit in Visakhapatnam is applying the brakes on Real Estate prices in Vizag area. The number of land purchase transactions have slowed down in the last month at Aganampudi, Parawada and Achuthapuram areas of the Visakhapatnam. Land prices too have fallen in the last ten days. A few buyers are even thinking of cancelling deals and asking for a refund of the advance payment, according to some Real estate brokers based in North C0astal Andhra.

ISKCON Temple in Vizag

ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) will build its 73rd temple overlooking the Bay of Bengal in Sagar Nagar of Vizag City.

It is a 12 crore project with temple complex, guest houses and exhibition complexes. This temple would give a push to the government’s plans to make the Port city a tourist center.

The hills and the sea would give a distinct character to the temple. This temple would have five ‘avatars’ of Sri Vishnu in Radhakrishna, Balaji, Narasimhaswamy, Sri Ramachandra and Sita and Jagannath with Balabhadra and Subhadra.

Computer Analysis Training For U-19 Matches @ Vizag

A week-long stint of the under-19 Indian team’s computer analyst, CKM Dhananjai, with the VDCA got over at Vizag last week. It is the training module for match analysis with a special state-of-the-art software.
Now that the first phase of the training for Bengal’s new analyst has gone off well, the CAB has decided to send over the specialist to Vizag to cover a couple of matches for the U-19 team. CAB joint-secretary has informed that the analyst would take a few matches to get acquainted with the software procured for match analysis from Meru Sports Experts.

Google Talk

Google Launches Google Talk

Google has launched Google Talk a instant messenger and internet phone tool. The BBC points out that Google's IM service launches far behind rivals like AOL (40 million), Microsoft (14 million) and Yahoo (20 million). It is an open source based service and works with other IM tools like iChat.

Google based its software on open standards, so it will work with smaller networks that are based on the same technology. Text messages can be exchanged with users of Apple Computer Inc.'s iChat, Cerulean Studios' Trillian and the open-source Gaim program.

The new Google program features a basic user interface with few graphics, much like the main Google search site. It does not spawn pop-up windows or display ads like America Online's Instant Messenger.

Google also is inviting programmers to build its technology into their software. I am sure there will be many takers for that.

Face of Vizag

It is the face of Visakhaphapatnam since many years. It protects the Vizag Harbour as well ENC (Eastern Naval Command) and Visakhapatnam Port Trust’s dock.

Light House is situated on top of this hill and guides the approaching ships to Vizag.

It's no teenage fantasy for Suhas Gopinath, born and based in the southern city of Bangalore.

Government officials and local media here say he is the world's youngest chief executive officer (CEO) of a software consultancy. His company, Globals Inc, is registered in California's Silicon Valley.

At an age when other teens are whiling away time at bowling alleys or go-karting, Suhas is busy drawing a road map for his fledgling company.

The company's revenue is nothing compared to the Microsoft empire, but given time Suhas is confident of raking in a fortune.

"We are hoping to register a turnover of around $1m in the next five years," says Suhas, who launched Globals Inc with two like-minded friends in 2000.

The entrepreneur also had to register his company, which employs 60 people, in the US because Indian law regards him as a minor.

As well as Bangalore and California, the company has representation in New York, Maryland, Virginia and London.

"My idea is to make it an Indian company when I turn into a 'major'," says Suhas.

The teenager is quickly gaining a strong local reputation.

Tata Steel plans Rs 6,000 cr plant in Vizag:

Tata Steel has shown interest in setting up a Rs 6,000 crore (Rs 60 billion) steel plant in the port city of Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

B Muthuraman, managing director, Tata Steel, met Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy in Hyderabad on Saturday and discussed the company's investment plans in the state.

"This included a proposal to set up a steel plant. Besides sharing their future investment plans, Muthuraman sought infrastructure support from the state government," a government official told Business Standard.

The size of the investment means Tata Steel can set up a plant with a capacity of about 3 million tonnes of steel per annum.

Botcha Satyanarayana, the state's minister for major industries, said, "Tata Steel has expressed its willingness to invest over Rs 6,000 crore in Visakhapatnam if the government extends the necessary infrastructural support."

According to Satyanarayana, Muthuraman has asked for 4,000 acres of land for the proposed plant, besides other basic infrastructure.

HPCL to start a new refinery:

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation plans to invest Rs 18,000 crore (Rs 180 billion) for building a new 15 million tonne export-oriented refinery at Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh and another Rs 1,635 crore (Rs 16.35 billion) to increase capacity of its existing refinery.

"Our existing 7.5 million tonnes per annum Vizag refinery has space constraints and we cannot expand it beyond a certain capacity. We have drawn plans to build a new refinery some 30-35 kms away from the existing refinery," said M B Lal, chairman and managing director, HPCL.
